19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents his initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from that period of that year.
Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.
His defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.
Both players swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional title, took control to create a final set.
He defended 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
